A song written about a friend's long term relationship before all the shit blew up with my own and the song suddenly became about us.

As I was writing it a few years back, I was thinking about what it's like to be left behind after being with the same person for a really long time. To be left behind. Even when things are clearly over and you've both been treading water for ages, it's the worst thing in the world to see your partner walk away into something else. You find little remnants of them everywhere....I used to write a lot of my feelings and lyrics on envelopes. My ex partner said he found bits of me everywhere. Little clues scrawled on paper and envelopes...
